Give me the option between choosing something savory and something sweet, and I’ll pick the something sweet almost every time. And if I had my way, that something sweet would almost always be cake. Cake has always held a special place in my heart, and likely always will.

This is the dessert I feel most comfortable experimenting with. Have I ever shared with you how terrified I am of making cookies? Don’t get me wrong, I love them almost as much as I love cake, and I still make them frequently. But the pressure of getting them all uniform and baked properly… I’m always holding my breath through the whole process! For some reason, cakes just seem so much simpler to me.
