Thinking of a unique treat to hand out to the little ghouls and goblins that come knocking on Halloween? Want to have something at the ready for any last minute, hair-raising parties that come up? Fear not, my pretties… I’ve got just the concoction for you – muahahaha!
This tasty trail mix is sure to stand out – whether in trick-or-treat pails or on the snack table at your Halloween bash. And it’s so easy to make (and customize!)
Trick-or-Trail Mix
- 1 bag snack mix
- Candy corn
- Raisins
- Peanuts
- M&Ms (I used a bag of the seasonal candy corn kind!)
- Pumpkin candies
- Simply pour the snack mix into a big bowl.
- Add in the candy corn, raisins, peanuts, M&Ms, and pumpkin candies.
- Mix it all together.
- Enjoy!
Seriously… it’s scary just how easy this is to whip up, and it makes SO much! Be careful, though – if you’re not careful, it might just vanish before anyone else gets to it. I was going to bag this up and share it with some friends, buuut, it’s disappearing into thin air! Some kind of hocus pocus, I presume. (Or I’m just sitting here eating handful after handful as I write this.)
Just imagine how cute this mix would look in a little treat bag with orange and black ribbon, or placed in a food contact glove (like this.)
I’m being extra mindful this year about making sure I have peanut-free options for the littles in our area with food allergies. (Have you heard about the Teal Pumpkin Project?!) I think you could give this same idea a go and make a peanut-allergy safe version, using this Allergy Free Chex Mix recipe, this peanut free candy corn, and some nut-free candies like these. Just to be extra safe, though, I think I’ll be handing out jack-o-lantern cuties and little toys! What do you usually give to trick-or-treaters?
xo, Aly
