Iceland has recently become quite the popular travel destination, and for good reason. Just look at how gorgeous it is! As an added bonus, it’s considered to be a rather budget-friendly trip.
But truth be told, Jeremy and I have been longing to go for years. One of our first dates revolved around watching Heima, a documentary that follows the band Sigur Ros around their homeland of Iceland (they’re from Reykjavík) during their tour of the country in 2006.
The scenery – and vibes that come with it – instantly had me longing to visit this incredible land.
Oh, and the Northern Lights and hot springs seem pretty okay, too…
Iceland is still a fairly affordable travel destination, all things considered. However, at the rate people are learning about it, I suspect costs will begin to climb rather drastically. So, we’d better start planning a trip soon!
Something I recently stumbled across is Icelandair’s stopover program. If you’re heading from the states to Europe, you can stopover in Iceland for up to a week with no extra fee. Yes, please!
No question: Iceland’s definitely moved to the top of my travel bucket list. When can I start packing?
xo, Aly

Oh, those Northern Lights….anytime there is a remote chance of seeing them here, I spend half the night outside. Not ever any luck with that though – if you see them here, I expect a phone call. 🙂
As J knows, I am going to be lucky enough to be able to knock off one of my bucket list picks in the next wk – the Galapagos. The other place on my list is definitely Russia.
Outside of that, I just want to travel more. Anymore, it feels like every place has at least some appeal to me – whether it is the history, the culture, the art & architecture, the food….or all of the above. I keep thinking about how great the far east might be.
Admittedly, maybe that is just because I have visions of going to Tokyo, hanging out with Bill and Scarlett, while Jesus & Mary Chain songs play in the background.

Zac, that is SO exciting! I can’t wait to hear all about your visit to the Galapagos. That trip will be surreal, I’m sure!
I’ve also had a growing interest in Russia. It seems that even in its most popular cities, there’s so much opportunity to explore off the beaten path there.
I certainly agree that just about anywhere has an appeal. I’ve always been one to feel like I need to flee the state or country to experience beauty and culture, but lately I’ve been just as interested in those under-appreciated places in our own backyard and less-popular destinations around the globe.
I think you and Jeremy are very much in sync on that last bit… maybe a guys vacation in the future? I’ll allow it. 😉
Thanks for the great comment!
