Our favorite time to vacation is in the autumn, and this October, we’re heading north for a week in Michigan! We’ve decided to make it a road trip style visit in order to squeeze as much adventure as possible into our time there.
We’ll be heading up to Bellaire first, then over to Sleeping Bear Dunes. From there, we’ll make our way down the coast, ending in Sawyer, before heading over to Chicago for a couple of days to end the trip.
We plan to spend time in Bellaire, Traverse City, Muskegon, Grand Haven, Holland, and Sawyer, and we’re open to taking whatever exits peak our interest during the drive, though we’re trying to stick to smaller towns and villages since we don’t have a crazy amount of time to dedicate to big cities (we’re looking at you, Grand Rapids… next time!)
Have you spent time along this route in the Great Lakes State? We’d love to hear about your favorite towns, beaches, and parks.
And of course, we’re always open to suggestions for food, brews, shopping, art, and entertainment, too! Apple orchards, pumpkin patches, and thrift shops are at the top of my list for this trip, so bonus points if you know of any along our route!
We’ve had so many solid recommendations from our readers for past trips – like Chicago, Kansas City, North Carolina, Seattle, and New Orleans – and always make a point to jot them down and attempt to visit!
So, you tell us: where should we go and what should we do to make the most of our time in Michigan this fall?
We’d also love to know what your next big travel plans are, or what destinations have recently been added to your travel bucket list!
xo, Aly
