We had the most gorgeous weekend here in Indiana! If only it could have been extended by another day or two…
It was the first weekend in nearly a month that I was feeling almost completely back to myself. I was knocked down with the “spring fever” that has taken our region by storm a few weeks ago and my health has been up and down ever since. I finally caved and went to the doctor early last week and have been taking some medication for a sinus/ear infection that had been lingering about as a result. It’s also one of the first weekends in MONTHS that the stars aligned and allowed Jeremy and I to spend a couple of days together (more than just the evenings!)
After dinner on Friday, I was hit with some major bursts of inspiration and productivity and decided to cross several to-dos off of my list that I haven’t been up to tackling over the past few weeks, taking sneezing and coughing breaks in between – kicking up all of the winter dust didn’t help – until midnight or so. Jeremy was bitten by the motivation bug, too, and was hard at work on a project that we can’t wait to share with you soon (a tiny preview later in this post!)
On Saturday, we tended to a few more projects around the house before heading to our nephew’s birthday party. From there, we made our way to a going away party for one of Jeremy’s friends/co-workers. Though it was nearly midnight by the time we said our goodbyes, we decided to knock out our week’s grocery shopping and crashed pretty hard when we got home.
Yesterday was slow and I was back to feeling a little under the weather, but it was still a pleasant day. I got lots of snuggles with Rosie in and spent most of the afternoon dozing as the thunderstorms passed on through.
Anyway, here are a few moments from the weekend I was able to capture and want to remember.
1. I go a little flower crazy in the first few weeks of spring and love having colorful blooms spread throughout our home. / 2. I ordered this peg rack ages ago and only just got around to hanging it in our little mudroom. Excited to fill it up with gardening tools in the coming weeks! / 3. Green lovelies thriving in the sun.
4. Found this gem while cleaning. A snap of J and I in Nashville a few years ago! / 5. Did tons of rearranging in the living room and it feels GOOD. / 6. She doesn’t know it just yet, but this little lady will be going on a long walk with her papa one day soon so I can purge a good number of her toys. It’s clearly gotten out of hand.
7. I’ve been practicing the art of patience since becoming homeowners, learning time and again that things are usually going to look way worse before they look a hundred times better. We’re in the process of changing up our dining room and have uncovered some unsightly surprises along the way, but now it’s coming together even more beautifully than I could have imagined! / 8. J working hard to turn my home renovation daydreams into reality.
9. Consumed way too much sugar in the last few days, but it’s nearly impossible for me to pass up summer in a bottle (especially when J surprises me with it!) / 10. Always ready to play. / 11. These carrot cake donuts helped us kick off our weekend – wishing I had leftovers to get me through this morning!
How was your weekend? Did you celebrate the holiday? I hope you squeezed in some fun and relaxation, whatever you were up to. Have a great start to the week!
xo, Aly
