I struggled for years with my “final” vision for our bedroom, and it was one of the last rooms in our home to get a makeover (aside from our basement)—nearly four years after moving in! It’s been in its current state since early 2019, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I kept it minimal, bright, and airy, so that when it’s clean and tidy, it feels like a calm and cozy escape.
I’ve long believed that a soft set of sheets can take that comfort factor to the next level, but have never really paid attention to the material, quality, or thread count of what I’ve bought in the past. If the sheets were soft, cute, and on sale, they were good enough for me! And while that’s totally okay, I also noticed how frequently I was buying replacements due to the wear and tear from sleeping on them, washing them, and in many cases, the stretching and tugging from a poor fit on the mattress.
After years of listening to podcasts that endorse bedding brands geared toward higher quality, longer-lasting products, I finally started researching the benefits of linen sheets earlier this year. I’d always been hesitant to even consider investing in a set because of the price point, but as I got deeper and deeper into reading about the benefits of linen sheets, I started to understand the reasoning behind it.
Linen is a great fabric of choice for sheets because it:
- Regulates your temperature and is super absorbent. This kind of fabric allows for a lot more air flow, which allows your body heat and air temperature to find a happy medium, keeping you cooler throughout the night, and the higher absorbency level means no more damp sheets from sweating!
- Is hypoallergenic. This is great news for those with skin disorders and allergies who may otherwise be uncomfortable in sheets that harbor allergens. It’s also naturally resistant to bacteria and fungus, dust mites, and other insects!
- Doesn’t create static. Nothing is worse than crawling into bed and getting a little static shock!
- Holds up better and longer than other fabrics. If you care for it properly, linen can last several years—decades, even! That means you can say goodbye to replacing cotton or jersey sheets every year or so.
- Is incredibly environmentally-friendly. Linen is made from flax plants, which, when harvested, are used in their entirety—and they take very little resources to grow and harvest compared to other crops. This also means 100% linen is biodegradable!
- Gets softer with each wash. I’m used to sheets gradually looking worse after each wash, but linen actually gets softer and softer without looking any different! Keep in mind that washing them in cold water and drying on low heat is important. I also occasionally line dry ours when the weather is cooperative!
- Looks perfectly “undone.” I love, love, love the fact that there’s a slight natural wrinkle to linen. I was always worried about smoothing down other sheets so they looked super crisp, but I’m a much bigger fan of the imperfect “lived-in” look of linen sheets!
After a lot of time reading reviews and researching several companies that specialize in linen sheets, I decided to go with Brooklinen and am so happy I did! Their pricing was incredibly reasonable over other companies, the process of buying and receiving the sheets was very streamlined and simple, and they just kicked off an amazing loyalty program to help reward repeat customers!
I’m now considering a second set, just to be able to alternate back and forth, but am also eyeing some of their other products—they also have a bath and loungewear line that feature equally luxurious fabrics!

I went with the Linen Core Sheet Set in the “Cream” color. This set comes with one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, and two standard pillow cases. If you’re curious about our comforter and textured pillow cases, it’s the Hearth & Hand Embroidered Comforter Set in “Tonal Cream.”
If you try a set of linen sheets for the first time, I’d love to hear what you think! And if you have any favorite brands or tips for caring for them, I’m all ears for that feedback, too. I’m off to snuggle up in ours now!
